halter day

Worked with Ben and his new halter today.  Good thing I got him used to a halter when he was a baby.  He doesn't mind the halter at all but still doesn't understand the lead part.  Next step - tie him off to something that weighs more than him for an hour a day.  Tough love now = well behaved 2,000 lb steer someday.  59,72,45,0,B,0

Made a quick trip Saturday thru Palo Duro Canyon State Park. They had 4 longhorns in a pen, 2 to 20 years old. Man, those guys get big! Park Ranger available to answer questions, pretty cool! We had our poodle on lease, the ranger requested we pick him up. Apparently they don't like little dogs. (?) The big guy was impressive.

By the way, Ben may need orthodontic braces. Just part of being a parent.

Awwww, he's got a sweet smile, Shawn. That gap gives him character.

After all, we don't want him to grow up looking like some sissified Hollywood cow, now do we?

No, if TFL has got any petty cash lying around to spend on the menagerie out there, what that little boy really needs now is a GPS tracking collar, ASAP! (I hate to nag, but....)

Oh, and I have a suggestion about what to tie him to everyday, Mr. Wells: that Airstream if you still have it.

Someday when he's full grown and the A|S is all polished, you could get an awesome photo of him hitched up to that thing as its tow 'vehicle' against the desert sky.

That's a great pic of Ben. I think he enjoys the camera. Love the "COW" on the side of his halter. Guess that's so he's not mixed up with Carl.
